歯科技工士の概念を変えるティースデザイナーという新分野を提言。プロが見つけてくれる「理想のセラミック」
「アメリカの歯科業界にいた私にとって、日本の歯科技工士はまだまだ課題を感じる環境です。まず歯科医の下請けというイメージが先行し、技工士にも「注文された歯を製作すれば良い」という仕事への甘えがあります。アメリカでは歯を創る前に必ず技工士を訪ね、「シェードテイキング」を行います。これは家を建てる時のインテリアコーディネーターと話すようなもの。製作の現場で、医師に直接言えないこと、美的な好みや生活環境などを聞き、詳細なデータを取って、理想の歯を製作するのです。私は日本の歯科業界においてこうした役割を担うべき新しい職業「ティースデザイナー」を名乗っています。そしてこの素晴らしい文化の普及をめざして率先して拡大していこうと考えています。」
